That is the sound of blowing the dust off my treadmill. I know it has been over a year since I used it last. I prefer to exercise outside, feeling a nice breeze, and taking in the beauty of my surroundings. Unfortunately, day light savings does not always cooperate. Since it's dark when I go to work and come home, it's not always safe for me to exercise where I enjoy it most.
I gave up the gym membership years ago and purchased a treadmill at a yard sale. I used it a lot when I first got it, until it reminded me of my gym days- trying not to stare at the timer and combating the stuffiness of inside air when my need for oxygen is greatest. Since I forewent working out with a trainer this year, I decided to give my treadmill a new lease on life and give myself a new attitude towards stationary cardio.
Keys To My Success!
- Exercise in the morning, when I'm in the best mood. Get it out of the way before any distractions or other responsibilities look more enticing.
- Turn off heater and turn ceiling fan on high- breathe..........
- Make a new playlist.
I believe I was fourteen when I first discovered the connection between running and stress-relief, well-being and just feeling good. Several years later, I still enjoy running, but times I need a bit more encouragement to get my foot out the door. New, fun shoes always does the trick. I purchased 2 colorful pairs of Adidas running shoes on sale at the outlet mall- one for summer and one for winter. They're so light-weight, I feel like I can effortlessly run faster, though that's not always my goal. Just the boost I need to get out there in less than desirable temperatures. Happy running!
